A Sculpture in the Mineral Bluff Residence
The sculpture addresses light as the home is situated on top of a hill and has direct sun. The installation is located in the entranceway to the patio and creates an arc that frames the setting sun in the middle.
The form is also a juxtaposition of natural versus industrial, which is a theme of the home. The aluminum art structure represents the industrial elements, and its form represents organic elements. Together, the natural and industrial environments are showcased. The shape of the aluminum structure highlights nature, and the cans showcase the natural light of the sun. The design itself replicates the entire home's presence of natural versus industrial elements.
